SAVING GRACE
Scripture Reading - Ephesians 2:4-8
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: KJV
Notice that the word “Grace” is used 3 times in these 5 verses. This reminds us that God’s Grace is the essential ingredient for His working in our life. We notice from verses 5 and 8 that grace is the foundation of our salvation. This must be said twice because so many religions are based on the good works of men. However, Christianity is not just another religion it is a relationship with God. A family fellowship of love and peace between our Heavenly Father God and His precious blessed children. The word “Love” is used twice in the first verse of this lesson to give us the motive inside of God’s Heart. According to verse 4 we understand that God’s Love is great and it is this same great love of God that He loves us with. This type of Love never fails, nor does it find fault or bring guilt upon a person. This Great Love of God always believes the best of everyone and covers our personal shortcomings in the Blood of Christ. The word “Saved” is used 2 times (twice) also to be sure we understand our need for His help. Verse 5 proclaims our spiritual state and verse 8 confirms it. The Lord needed to remind us that salvation is a gift because many desire to think of themselves as good people who qualify for salvation. However, those who believe in the Precious Blood of Jesus have the divine revelation that Jesus suffered as our substitute and purchased our salvation for the price of His life. Notice the order of progression because that will help you to appreciate His Supreme Sacrifice. God’s Grace was given to us freely because our Father loves us so much that He brought us into His Plan of Salvation through the gift of His faith. Therefore emphasize God’s Grace toward you first, then think on His Great Love for you that brought you into His awesome salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. This will keep you thankful to our Heavenly Father and praiseful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!
